Today was a big day.
We arrived at the Bergen County Clerk’s office in Hackensack with the many forms, signatures, and notarization that was necessary to put my name on the November ballot. I brought my boys with me, because I wanted them to be a part of this big moment.
My name on an election ballot. I still can’t believe it.
I took some selfies with them, and then the clerk told me that I forgot the last page of the paperwork. I left the page with all the signatures in our copy machine at home. Ugh! I’ll have to go back tomorrow to finish this process.
We laughed about my error and went to White Manna for cheeseburgers. (Cheeseburgers at White Manna are mandatory when in Hackensack.)
Julie and I are continuing to set up our campaign to run for Board of Education in November. In addition to completing the election paperwork, we created Facebook campaign pages for ourselves this week.
Here’s my Facebook campaign page. And here’s Julie’s Facebook page.
Many of you have asked how you can help. The first step is simply to add your name to this email list (see the subscribe button at the bottom) and follow our Facebook pages. Then, please share this note with friends and neighbors. We’ll have a lot more information soon with volunteer opportunities and fun events.
This weekend, I’ll running the 5K with NJ Masters at The Ridgewood Run. (If you see a very tired redhead struggling through the streets of Ridgewood, please give me a cheer.) Julie will be supporting her daughter and RHS bands at Van Neste Square. Then back home where I’ll try to follow Ina Garten’s method for grilling steak.
I hope you all have great plans for the Memorial Day weekend.
- Laura
Good luck in the Run and at Band! Have a great weekend!
